IMPORTANT MESSAGE for True Believers
by Fire indear brothers and sisters,.
in the times of the old testament the prophets foretold of the coming of a saviour,a son of god, a king of kings.
the pharisees, being imperfect men, interpreted these prophecies to mean that a literal king would be coming to nation of israel.

DUH! A title would have been nice, yes?
by AGuest inquick question, please.... is there a way to 'view' this board so that i can see the title and author of the threads under each post before opening them?
right now, i can see only 'topics', i think.. if anyone has a suggestion to help a sista' out, i would really appreciate it.
my apologies for 'cluttering' the board with such a banal question, too.. peace to you all!.

Is this how they control people?
by Loki inif religion is, as marx said, the opium of the people, do the borg just have theirs at a better grade than most religions?
is that why it is so hard for people to "kick the habit"?
is that why we feel so strongly about the borg - reformed druggies being the most outspoken and all that?

Welcome to the board Loki and Boozy!! Hope to hear more from you!
Frontle,
you might want to try a less "frontal" approach and a little more subtly. People here are in various stages of healing from being in a very controlled environment. Each expresses themselves differently.
I believe we need to express tolerance and be civil in our replies.
This may work a little better than attacking.

Tracy,
I am so happy it worked out for you the way it did. Sounds like you are wayyyyyyyyyyyy better off!!!!!!! I know what you mean about the fairy tale love story. Isn't that just amazing. I am a great believer in things being meant to be. If we keep an open mind when the right person comes along, we will know it. Thinker and I are thankful for that every day!!
That is amazing, all the months I have been posting here, I never thought about being a JW being a co-dependent relationship. I'll have to pull out my book, I think it is Co-Dependent No More out and see if I can see some more comparisons.
My counselor said my JW husband was a non-alcoholic with the behavioral patterns of an alcoholic. The book helped me tremendously. I think changing my patterns, due to that book, is what finally made him leave me. Yippeeeeeeeeeee, no regrets on that front.
Thanks for sharing your story!!

The Rainbow as a sign to Noah
by Simon ini don't know if this has ever been brought out - i just thought of it:.
the bible tells us that it rained for forty days and forty nights.. it stopped raining and noah & co floated around for a bit.. when they landed, noah sacrificed some of the animals (weren't they in short supply?
) and god promised never to bring a deluge upon then earth again.. to back this up, there was a rainbow in the sky as a sign.. now, what causes a rainbow?

I figure Noah was good and sick and tired of all those animals by the time the sun came out, he was probably glad to get rid of a few of them.
I also am interested in the Sumerian info. Please let us know Patio!!
Somebody,
Have you ever seen a double rainbow? I have seen several. I still get as excited as a little kid when I see rainbows. I just think they are so cool. (nothing to do with the Bible account)

NEED HELP !!! 7000 yrs. ??
by thinker inthe wt claims that each "day" in genesis (chap.1) is really 7000 yrs.
can anyone provide an explaination of this belief?
please list references from wt literature or scripture that backs up this idea.. personally, i can find nothing; which is interesting since so much jw doctrine and teaching hinges on this number "7000".. thinker

Heresy of the Month
by thinker inheresy of the month (from a website).
don't you hate it when someone you know comes up with some new thing that you have never heard about?
you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.
